Night coverage of the return of the body of Maj. Rudolf Anderson, Jr. to Andrews AFB from Cuba by VC-137A for positive identification by AF pathologists. Shows VC-137A taxiing to stop, the flag-draped casket being transferred to AF ambulance by honor guard and ambulance driving away intercut with MCU's of VC-137A tail section and engine. Also includes scene of Andrews AFB Operations sign. (Maj. Anderson's plane was lost over Cuba on a reconnaissance flight.)

Rudolf Anderson Jr. (September 15, 1927 – October 27, 1962) was an American and United States Air Force major and pilot, who was the first recipient of the Air Force Cross, the U.S. military's and Air Force's second-highest award and decoration for valor. The only U.S fatality by enemy fire during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Anderson died when his U-2 reconnaissance aircraft was shot down over Cuba. He also served in Korea after the Korean War ended.
